"SMILEY"

Smiley was the sort of guy who smiled alot for he was shy. He hid behind his big old grin, just keeping all the pain within. He lived and loved a  very long time. Everyone thought that Smiley was fine. Then one bright and sunny day Smileys' grin went away. The pain was so sharp. He held it in so long. No one ever knew from the outside what could have been so wrong.  Smiley took that "secret" with him. Those closest to him, left in a daze, say if you look through the clouds and thick summer haze, you can see Smileys grin.  They never felt his torment, his lack of aggression was his demise. Hiding his true feelings deep behind his eyes. Smiley was too nice and taken advantage of - not the type meant for this world. All he needed was the return of his love. Too trusting of others, willing to give. All of this made him loose his will to live. Smiley wanted peace of mind. He tired of head games. He no longer wanted to play. He betted on forgiveness from God, on Earth his very last day.

Additional Notes:
Dedicated to a dear friend who refused to play hardball with his family and friends forever. People can be cruel. Some need to refrain from being so critical and judgemental of others. Especially when their lives are no better. Words can cut thru the bone like a knife. It's wiser to choose your words carefully.
