Ambulance I held his head within my hands, alone we two existed in that car. Unbound the fear blazed in his eyes, full blown Was this the act with which his life was crowned? My sense of time had stopped and all noise died within that tangled wreckage, I perceived a growing bond, as desperately we tried to freeze one second of that night's eternity. "Please," the whisper sounded sharp, a peal within the silence, tolling loud. He moaned "Can't you tell me that this isn't real so I can tell my mom that I'll be home?" The truth was in that silence so profound, his life bled out upon the frozen ground. |
