Innocence Lost?

Ms. Kelley's young school class, finish their seat work en masse.  Scampers off, vivacious grins, as their "Center Time" begins. Some dash off, eager to start, personal great works of art. Tiny fingers, crayons press, individual thoughts expressed. Kate, with Abby, her best friend, will play dress-up and pretend, ballet dancers, they'll exert, energy, in tutu skirts. Four land in the reading nook, two inspect the picture books. Becky savors Dr. Seuss, Shanna flips through Mother Goose. Jake and Ben, dump toy box, stacking colored wooden blocks. Focused to build two the same, World Trade Center is the name. Mindful of their twin design, at the top they hang stop signs. Then they order, "Now, you stop,  when you see our sign on top". We'll be safe, no more crashes, no more streets, black with ashes. Now that we are well prepared, no more reason to be scared. They are young, but children see, a path through carnage and debris. Their trust wasn't swept away, on that sad September day? World leaders, if your cause unclear, trust childrens words and have no fear. To save the world of Jake and Ben, this is a fight that we must win.
