VAL'S SONG or ONE OF THE LOST

She was found Laying on the floor You could say she was bound She couldn't get out the door She was alone In her own strange world Couldn't get to the phone Could never get unfurled She always tried to make amends In her own strange way You see, we were her only friends And here she wanted to stay I can't say we understood her Who of us can really say Her life was empty, not full of mirth And now we're going to bury her on this cold April day Of all the genius at our grasp The doctor's, the nurses, we tried our best There was no medicine, no therapy that would last She's dead and gone now, and now she's truly blessed She's blessed because the demons are now purged And her mind can finally rest So in church I will sing - sing a dirge    and think kind thoughts of how I knew her best Rest softly Val...rest softly!
