To My Son What do I wish for you Sweet Baby Boy? My bundle of love, my pride and my joy? I wish for a burp and a smile I can keep, I wish for the angels to watch while you sleep. And what do I wish for you very small child, With frogs in your pockets and hair that grows wild? I wish that the scrapes on your elbows would heal, And the broom that you ride was a horse that was real. Now what do I wish for you growing so tall? With a comb in your pocket and girls on your wall? I wish that your music would finally end, I wish that I had lots more money to spend. And what do I wish for you now that you're grown? With a house and a car and a life of your own? I wish for a woman to love you the way, That I did back then and still do today. |
