“But For The Gods”

And she said unto him,  ”Loved for I have been, However, it has been no love of man, I have found in the trust of my soul,  I must vow my love to the greater whole.” Dolefully he raised his eyes to reply, “For you are, as the sun rises and sets, The breath in my life of no regrets. Walk away, I will if I must ! But know that as I do, I do so with disgust. Disgust and contempt in my heart so true. Nay for me, nor for you, But for the God’s that oversee and Inflict upon us so recklessly, their Will and command without due thought. Blinded to the pain it will wrought!” “Walk away, I will if I must! But know I leave them, not us!” Without another word, he bowed his head, And began to walk away. “Please!” she cried, “For the life I am to lead  Is a life that has been designed  and prepared for me!” “Why for the care of the God’s,  Would you deny me, nay, deny you,  The pleasure of a full and plentiful life.  A life that would allow you  To follow your true hearts desire. That would deny you the children you may bare,  That I may sire! Why for the care of the God’s above and below?” He cried.  “I could never expect you to understand  The life to which I am bound.  The life that offers such gifts,  Of that which you claim. Look to me not with harshness,  To the God’s with blame. Look upon the God’s with the love you have for me,    Share that love with all your life may touch.  Pleasure the Gods the way you sought to pleasure me.  Give to them your love, your life and your seed!  Love the God’s always and know while you do, you love me!” She kissed his tear-streaked cheek,  And walked to the forest.

Additional Notes:
This is a revision of a poem I wrote in '99. That poem in its original form is published on my website (http://www.angelfire.com/nh/ourtribe/poetry.html).Along with a couple other raw poems, which have since been revised. This revision however, has never been published or posted. This poem is meant to be centered on the page, so if it's structure does not make sense, I apoligize.
