Today, the body declares itself.

I stand, still in your embrace, as if I have forgoten the point.  Instead, this standing is purposeful, not of the mind, but, of the body.  Lingering in your embrace, denying half remembered instructions to free myself, my body connects to  the mind and, briefly, takes control. I register the warmth of your chest pressed closely to my back, the band of your arms encircling my shoulders, arms and chest.  I am conscious of your scent; new sweat, warm flannel and after shave. Today, the chill waters of Ontario engulf me, the action of the waves pulls me under and further from the shore.  At first, I am frightened. I struggle, with flailing arms and kicking feet, to free myself.  Then, I recognize the rhythms of the lake, how they echo the movement of water in my own veins and I relax am lulled by the waves until my body is drawn deep, deep, deep... Dissolving, the small particles of flesh  release and water joins water. Ontario, I am no longer distinguishable from you. Rock, down: Rock, down:  Rock, down: The powerful movements of the trot propulsion under my seat, expansion of ribs between my calves, flexion of ankles and wrists. A few ounces of my weight,  a tiny squeeze of my right fist, a tiny rub of my heel that I feel as does this buckskin mare, a rolling  canter on a twenty meter circle at Point A.  When familiar, there is nothing  of mind in this,                  The body is everything.
