Behind the Curtain

Safe behind the curtain, with door locked securely, I observe you quietly from a distance. You can't see me if I hide. Can't see my apprenhension in allowing you  to come closer. But what if you looked and really saw the me behind the mask? Understood my silent ways,   my individual style? Maybe I'll invite you in, or I'll come out and play. Perhaps by chance, the combination will work and I'll have no need to replace the lock or close the curtain once again.
