Wait Until Tomorrow

Yesterday, you were born and placed in my arms. I remember stripping you naked, to make sure everything was as it should be...it was. In my eyes, you were perfect, and I thanked God. Yesterday, I took pictures. You stood on the sidewalk, looking so innocent with your shiny new lunchbox, anxious to start your first day of school. You laughed  when I cried. So I smiled, and thanked God. Yesterday, I was so nervous I could hardly stand still. It seemed like forever before the bus pulled in, and there you were...sleepy, excited, trying to be heard over the crowd. End of grade school. First trip away, but back safe. I thanked God. Yesterday, you came home from Jr. High so scared, because you got lost between classes. Next thing I knew, I was  chaperoning your eighth grade prom. You had a date. I saw your smile the first time you danced. I thanked God. Yesterday, I proudly watched you graduate high school with honors. Today, I stand by as you finish your last-minute packing, in a hurry to start a new life as a college student...a young lady...an adult. But that can wait until tomorrow...Thank God.
