Synergism

Standing on the craggy tor, seeing the sweep of land to the shore, scree scattered on the slope by seasons of wind, rain, and snow. Contrasting colors in the foliage below: shades of deep fir green, of soft shamrock, then a segue to profuse, shameless chartreuse. Soughs of wind through the trees like sighs of weariness while the smile of the sun on my spine soothes residue of confinement. The stirring of a song sweeps my mind and a curlew calls, its melody more mellifluous than any sinfonia I might conceive. Atop the tor, remote, alone where the air feels fresh on my face as it must have in the original place forfeited by our forebears. I feel as a revenant returned to the garden, cast away eons ago, a deracination from which recovery  is restored by pardon. A concantenation of wasted years sears my soul: fatuous egoism while in exile, the apotheosis of my image. Now hoping to restitute my rectitude, my prodigal self pleads for a place of grace: The melody in my mind melismata from the Hallelujah Chorus.
