Leftovers

His laugh was uninhibited that day. Lilting smile conjured by some secret joy. I laughed with him putting all doubts away forgave and forgot all his other ploys. My Kodak Shur Shot snapped his silly pose. My Napoleon, hand in shirt, captured. I, his Josephine coquettishly chose to play his game, pleasured by his laughter. We ate leftover stew together. He sketched a puppy on a scrap of paper autographed it, love, from Mike forever. All hope vanished like some mystic vapor with self-inflicted wound that day I know now what he was trying to say.
