WORDS OF PROMISE

"... that keep the word of promise to our ear                 And break it to our hope."                         MACBETH Act V; Scene 8 Razor wire, deception lies within your Gently growled trochaic thrum and graceful Vowels.          Silver coils sprawled on fence and  Roof web the city's empty skies and Swayed by vagrant alley winds seduce with Siren-song that whispers safe nights with fear Held at bay beyond your star-bright savior Barbs.         Behind these judas walls the Sound of dark footfalls drawing near Haunts our scantling dreams.

Additional Notes:
I was taken by the contrast between the music and rhythm (trochaic) of the words RAZOR WIRE [it is a common sight where I live] and the function of the wire. I set myself a challenge: to write about the contrast using a trochaic meter. In a few places I switched to spondees oand iambs where the change fit the meaning. I consider the first word in the last "stanza" to be BARB, not BEHIND, thus keeping the trochaic meter.
