Tears On A Face

Tears stream down a face like rain,     can you kiss them all away?   Angry words loud and twisted,     wring those tears into existence.   Tears of joy fight tears of pain    that splatters on this gentle face.   Those you loved and held so dear    send bitter accolades undeserved.   Tears from memories wished relived,    days gone by you can't forget.   Mothers did the best they could,    Fathers gave all they had to give.   Tears dry paths down a worn face,    life is kind and soothes with grace.   Those that see only in a mirror,    will someday know those lonely tears.

Additional Notes:
There is never a good time to end a marriage when you have children, especially a 20 yr. marriage. I erroneously thought that it would be an easier transition when they were older. But I do believe that in time and with a little bit of life under their feet they will come to understand, and the harsh words will fade away from memory. In the mean time, thank goodness for the soothing grace of a writers pen.
