Absorption Prairie grass swishing softly in The oh so gentle breeze that only Yesterday crackled with the heat. The god’s were good last night, And brought from the sultriness A torrent of rain which swelled Bear’s Creek I thought back to my youth when I used to Lay on my back sucking the sweetness From the root of a blade of grass – The smell from the hay just Beyond the fence was a pungent Delight to my senses In and out, in and out I Wafted in reverie, and soon fell asleep Caressed by sun, grass and wind This is where I want to be, where I want to be With no cares, no stress or strain Oh for the life of a ten year old. |
