Summer Heat

The tide is rolling upon my feet- my body aches in the summer heat. Because of the memories in which I drown, the ocean sings sweetly all around. My thoughts drift back to the summer before, when I held a man that I adored... I look upon the beach where we would run, and share our laughter under the golden sun. At night, to the places that we had found, where he would lay my body upon the ground. And give me love as I never felt before- only to leave me crying for more... As the tide rolls away from below my feet, I realize there are illusions in the summer heat. Some things in life are brief in time, and never again will he be mine.
