I Am Who I Am

(5/12/2002) I see the way you look at me, Your eyes judging so completely What gives you that right? You don't know me, no, not quite. You think you might, you think you do But your judgment is far from true. Your opinion of me, bothers me not Don't judge by the cover, that's what I've been taught. I don't measure up, I'm not beautiful or thin In your mind that must be some kind of sin. You look down your nose at those who aren't pretty Your snide comments, I suppose you find witty. I am who I am, you don't know me at all Even under your glare I'll still stand tall. I know who I am, can you say the same? Are you so much better than me as you claim? Your taunting hurts not, I've heard it all before It's so unoriginal and easy to ignore. I am who I am, what you say doesn't matter To me it's nothing but mindless chatter. So if you wish, judge the cover of this book I am much stronger than I look. I can face your insults and take them in stride I am who I am, and I say that with pride.
