My Genesis

There was a time When the pace was slower When people seemed to be more honest When there appeared to be less crime As a young lad not yet in his teens I was left alone to wander The museums and art galleries And to stare, no gawk at huge smoke rings Bellowing from the Camel’s mouth The electric lights danced and flashed And rang out messages on a Building called the Flat Iron I stood for hours amongst the throngs Watching, watching, watching Not lonely I  This was my milleu My entrance into self My entrance into being All else pales
