Brooklyn Stoop in Summer

Two little girls, same hair in corn rows same little yellow rubberbands same little yellow dress same little brown sandals same little brown toes, with the same bright red polish, pokin’ through the holes. Two little girls, same little brown hands with the same perfect rhythm I’m hearin’ them smack with the same little voices singin’ Miss Mary Mack. Two little girls, same pavement heat same smile and “hey” as I walk down their street Two little girls, same long days of vacation same timeless afternoon stretchin' across creation
