Splintered Tree

Drone of the distant  traffic blends with shadows dancing on the midnight wall of memories, when echoes of laughter pealed with promises of passion and visions of bright tomorrows   and star filled nights, until their dreams divided, unbalanced, teetering  on the edge of nowhere,  lost in a vacuum  of hopelessness,  resignation setting in as two lives splinter into twisted shapes of broken branches, unable to blossom again, and the trees now barren of leaves, cast shadows on the wall, as tears slip down the cheeks of the one who sleeps alone.
