Brianna Candace Rael's Profile:
I do not profess myself to be a person of great importance, and I hope never to be regarded as such. I live in my little world of dreaming and enchantment in which I escape the nightmare of conformist society. From the age of six I began composing poetry as an outlet to my fears, joys, lusts, sorrows, understandings, and the like. I am twenty now and I have never truly been published because I have not yet sought that eventuality, and most probably I will succeed in becoming one of those writers, as was Emily Dickinson, whose recognition as a writer comes only to them upon their deathbed. I am in no way a modernist poet, in fact I thrive upon classical literature and can be regarded as a "dark romantic," although I have a Victorian flair to my work at times. If it were possible to take the whole of my life and sum it up in a single word, it would be "obsessive." A great fault of mine--I tend to fall in love with what catches my fancy, but it has made me, along with years of constant study and concentrated effort, the writer/artist/musician that I am today. To state the facts, I have lived in only one subsection of the world, but my heart has traveled far among books of every genre. My secret dream is to find my true love, move to Ireland, and be the Celtic singer that I've often wanted to be. I greatly enjoy composing my own music and writing songs, mostly Irish ballads, a few in French and Itallian. I sing opera, folk, blues, and classical jazz on the whole, but my ultimate favourite is opera. I am also an artist, I attend the local college with a dual major in Graphic Design and Music (voice.) I will probably achieve my print/web degree in design, but originally I'm a painter and my mediums are acryllics and watercolors. You can imagine the extreme artist's depressions and obsessions that seize me on a daily basis, all topped off by my extreme perfectionism of myself. I muse, at times, of what it would be like to be normal, just an ordinary person whose emotions and passions aren't so amplified and intense, driving me to a quiet madness. I tell you truly, my talent is as much my curse as it is my gift, for I know that if I were to throw it off I would surely meet my end. There is, of course, more, but I don't think you will stay to hear it; ergo, I leave you with these last words: Billions upon billions of people want to be known, they crave recognition and for others to exult them, to know who they are, but, as for myself, I know who I am and God knows who I am, and that is ALL that matters under the sun.
