Winter Solstice

The winter solstice drops its icy tears on mountain crests and vacant poppy beds, while barren trees recall their frozen fears. The sky is gray with crystal's glow and glare and flakes of snow can't hide their pristine white before a foot in silence falls with care. The dreams I planted in warnth of sun's full sway, are tulip bulbs that sleep until the spring when morning's dawn of light is on display. Refrains of orchid saffron hues and tone become the echoes spring has ever known.

You've done a nice job on this piece Cheyenne. It reminds me of a poem I wrote about winter, called An Invitation to Winter. I like how you start off with imagery of winter and trees coming to life with emotions. Each verse has a nice flow, rhyme & meter then you combine in the same piece the promise of spring adding more enhanced imagery to make each verse stand out. Very good, I really enjoyed reading this. You have a flare, unique style and are very talented. blessings, Deni

Warmth instead of "warnth" of course. This is a leap forward in your poeming. Imagery tight and well placed rhyme scheme that is still subtle enough not to seem overly contrived. Last lines of well metered and interesting contrasts, tight enough to be those of an established poet. Elevate the prior lines to this quality and this poem will sing. JCH
