Reposts Allowed for Contest

If you are in a dry spell poeming wise, resorting to submitting a repost is allowable. It is enough that we traditionally seem to discount them in the voting but for the sake of the contest, please reconsider. After all, the point should be to reward excellence and nothing else. Besides, revisiting what poets have done in the past is just another regard to pay. Especially when it has been such a long time since monetary rewards WERE paid.  It was upon my suggestion that Duane repost one of his poems when he intimated to me he was in an inspiration drought. I would take it kindly if you didn't hold that against him in the voting. And feel free to do the same.  However, I do so appreciate reading new poems.  JCH

JCH, Thanks, pal, for this infusion of good blood into the site. I'm going to repost some stuff I shouldn't have hidden . . . but some WON'T be eligible because they won in the past. The quality has almost moved us to the point - witness the last month - where, and I never thought I'd say this, the contest may be irrelevant. But the contest DID define this site and make it different, and that distinction fueled, I think, the difference that does really makes us different: a striving for excellent, as defined by the true MUSE, as Terry wisely pointed out to me in a critique reply. The TRUE MUSE, sort of like the Holy Spirit in the religious context, doesn't go for popularity and the appearances and opinions of men (institutional churches), with their misguided agendas. Rebirth has always been the key, to poetry and the Spirit. There is the spirit of being reborn here, methinks. You deserve a lot of credit. My hat's off to you. MSS

Thank you James for posting this. You are spot on as far as I'm concerned; there should be no problem with someone re-posting something if it has never been a contest winner. I think many forget that there is that option, so thank you for the reminder. Lora
