The Dark Passenger Returns

I can always tell when the dark passenger comes around I can fell him crawling into my brain like some bad hangover Sometimes I can feel him creeping through the thousands of pores in my skin Either way the results are the same To quench his thirst for blood It might be days, weeks,or hours Spent in a living hell while he selects his victim Ultimately it is the dark passenger Who so skillfully guides the knife and directs Each movement with such precision And where and how to dismember each limb The proper way of dividing the torso Each time I have this ritual with the dark passenger It only fixes his thirst for more There isn`t much to do except go through the motions of life While waiting for him to return He always does....

Hi Michael, this is def dark poetry and I wonder if the passenger is equated to "depression", the void that empties us from joy no matter how one tries to lift out and above it. Going through the motions suggests the routine day to day without exhilaration or pure amusement that surrounds us in life. I wonder how it fixes his thirst for more. It def cuts in to your life taking precious time away. Good write, blessings, Deni

Michael, This is even more chilling than the first. The way you tell this story is so believable as though you yourself have experienced the visitation of the dark passenger. Another fine piece of prose poetry, haunting, but well done. Scary...though I think that was your intent! Bravo! Mandie
