Cris and fellow members. I have been placing my poetry here for a while. It eases the pains that I go through. I would like to apologize for the fact that I am not one of the better critics here, and that I don't stay on any length of time, as my illness keeps prevents me from spending a lot of time here. So many people here have been so kind to me, and encourage me to keep trying. This in itself keeps my faith from wanning. I try to write things that touch us in our everyday lives. sometimes my work seems excepted well, a few times I've hit a nerve or two not intentional of couse. I've been chastized a couple of times, but thank God there are those understanding enough to know what I am all about. I do wish to thank all of you that have been so good to me, and I want you to know, that should you one day not see me here anymore, it won't be because I don't wish to be here. I hope that I will always be able to touch your hearts, as you have so graciously touched mine. Thank you.

Dear Chris and fellow members of TPL, I wish to take a moment of your time to tell you a story, a true story. It's about a woman in her thirties who, without warning, wakes up one morning unable to see, hear or walk. After many medical tests, she is told that her condition was brought on do to a brain aneurysm, which had caused a stroke. The doctors said that through rehab she could improve and with treatment the prognosis for full recovery was great, however, the likelihood of reaccuring strokes was also a possibility. This was devastating news! It (the stroke) caused changes in her behavior and in the way her mind worked. She forgot things that we take for granted every day, things like your name or address, she got confused with general language, so she gave up! What was the point in trying to get well if the same thing could happen again or worse. The next stroke could very well be the last. Her family wanted her to fight, the doctors told her to fight, attitude has a great influence on how we heal from an illness and she was depressed and lost. Always a lover of poetry, and a writer as well, she thought she would give the website a look. First, she read, and read, and read. Then she submmitted a five year old poem. Members liked it, there were misspelled words, mostly due to deficient sight, but she worked harder the next time. Before she knew what had happened, she was recovering. Each day she improved! Family, friends and the medical profession were amazed at her progress. Today, slightly one month later, she has astounded everyone and when asked how she did it, I reply...The Poetic Link! Thank you Chris and fellow members, for giving me my life back. I no longer regret waking up, I look forward to writing each and every day. No, its not a perfect world yet, I still spend several hours a day at the hospital and no one knows whether that next stroke is around the corner or not, and I must look up every word in the dictionary (even the simple ones)because my brain doesn't function properly yet, but, Every day I fight harder. You are all so wonderful, the way you encourage and help one another. And Chris, you have made all of this possible with this fabulous site! Thank you all!!

Congratulation, poets! I am delighted to review the work of those poets who placed well in the January selections. What variety! What creative voices! I found a few of my favorite "voices" in the top twenty! To all who shared their work, thank you. To those who spend much time giving quality critiques of the work that appears, hugh thanks! It is a gift of great measure! We are grateful for your thoughtful time. Happy February, poets! Sharon Patterson

It's been a week since I joined TPL and I must say the learning experience is beyond what I'd ever thought it would be. What a wonderful site to share thoughts with each other. I, too, had submitted a poem to poetry.com and as of now I have not received any response, but, I am sure I will just narrowly miss winning a prize, like so many others. When I do receive that letter I will notify everyone and give my own critique of how I perceived it. Probably won't be a very high mark...... Thanks again for all the opportunities to finally, after many years, show others what I truly enjoy doing from the heart. Sincerely, Boyd

Dear Chris and TPL members: Not only is this an excellent site, filled with fascinating poetry, it gives writers and readers alike a chance to develop their creative and critical abilities. The site is constantly changed and upgraded to include things which will benefit the link members. I want to take this opportunity to thank you Chris, for your consideration and helpful responses to feedback. You do listen, and respond to the needs of members, if we take the time to express them to you. This is a good place to be! Best wishes to all, Joanne

Good morning, This is an astonishing site! I found it by chance and will certainly make it a focal point of my online day. Once I joined and tentatively offered a couple of poems, I was overwhelmed with the immediate responses and the encouragemenet I received, albeit tempered with carefully-worded critical advice. As I do teach English language, drama and literature at the senior high level (grade XII), I am used to critiquing students' work, but there is always that concrete goal: a "mark" earned, an average maintained, a reference letter supported. Here, I can be freer to express my reactions and offer comment for its own sake. I can receive and interpret critical feedback on my own efforts - which I could never obtain from my students, since education is about their writing, not mine. This is a side of myself that normally hides in the background. It's so liberating to abandon, even if temporarily, the teaching persona and become myself a student! Oh, by the way, I had submitted three poems to Poetry.com just for the heck of it - knowing full well that they'd be "accepted". When I got the winner's notification letters, I did not sign the authorization for publication - but nonetheless, got a notice about the poems' inclusion in their expensive anthology and an order form! Yeah, right. Ultimately, they sent me a very fancy-looking Silver Medal as an Editor's Choice award but didn't specifiy which poem had actually gleaned this marvellous prize - it was identified merely as "your poem". Yeah, right - again! Do these people have rights to publication if the writer does not sign her consent to this? At any rate, I shall submit whenever I find time to do so and am looking forward to reading the various critiques which I receive. Brenda (Faranya)

Never in this lifetime I'd thought I'd ever see ...A home sight of a websight that could mean so much to me. Out there lost in limbo, couldn't find my home; A phone call from a person, whose name I've never known. He didn't want my address or my bank account. I somehow got the feeling... this man's sight would account. He stayed up near to midnight just to show the way. Never did he tell me to go the ---------------- away. I know I drove him crazy of that I am for sure. But this man he owns patience, so his websight shall endure. Thank you Chris

I want to thank Christopher, the head of this sight because he really does care. I am new on computers and was searching for a good link for poetry and feedback I was unable to log on despite my efforts. Within an hour, I was called by Mr. Christopher AT his expense and he stayed up till midnight with me to get me on his web page. He never asked me for a credit card or a checking account. I have none on line anyway infact I don't have long distance calling. This tells me that this sight is for real and honest. What is three dollers a poem for the truth and keeping a honest sight going. This is the best and it's for real I don't yet have a poem here ...I need to send some money first but it will be worth it -truth always is.
