love will keep us alive

standing all alone at the bridge of tears feeling lost and lonely watching the wind of the world  passing me by hungry for you all these years now that you're gone I wont say goodbye love will keep us alive I will cry for you and sigh for you in the end I know love will keep us alive don't you worry you've given me the will to survive baby, there's nothing we couldn't do I will always remember all of those simple things that you enjoyed so much your home and safe now with your angels watching over you  love will keep us alive I will cry for you and sigh for you 'in the end I know love will keep us alive surrounded by strangers  who I thought were friends thinking of what to leave out what to leave in I would die for you climb the highest mountain for you now that your gone I wont say goodbye love will keep us alive I will laugh for you, and cry for you and sigh for you `cause in the end I know  that love will keep us alive

Michael, I see this as a lyrical song that comes from the heart. You will always look-out over the horizon from the bridge you and her created. Life is fragile but when a heart is touched it lasts forever. Love makes us stronger and we appreciate life much more. I do you crying out and you have shown us your deep eternal thoughts. Thanks for sharing. Did your wife submit poetry at this site and what was her handle? Thomas

Hi Michael....I am so sorry that you have lost your wife and also a good friend who was also a poet. I lost my husband some years ago and while I can tell you it does get better, with the passage of time, the grief is always there and ready to strike you at any moment. I find that writing poet does have a cathartic effect on me and I would guess it does for you, as well. This poem is really heart rendering. Your repetition of "Love will keep us alive" works well here. I was so saddended when Mell Morris passed away as she mentored me when I first joined TPL and we became friends. We talked on the phone, when I would go to Ft Worth to visit my daughter, but we never able to meet due to her illness. She wanted to meet me for coffee but was too ill to do so. This is a lovely poem. I wish you well and also peace in healing. Best....Marilyn

Michael, So loving, so sad! The repetition is good I think. It is a powerful statement you drive home. And yes, love lives on.....thank God. I believe you were much blessed to know such depth of love. A very poigant poem. You did well sharing your emotion. Could fellow poet me Mell? She comes readily to mind? My best, Dellena

Michael, My heart to yours. I am sorry to hear about the passing of your wife. I too, am widowed. Your poem is a wonderful tribute. I only see one error. In your second to last stanza, you have, now that your gone. It should read, now that you're gone. I always get that mixed up too, on your and you're. I know only those who have grieved the loss of a loved one truly knows just how deep grief really goes. Others can only imagine. Wishing you a gentle healing. Rene'
