My Old Sock

Leftover lilac memories, I placed in an old sock, safe from prying eyes. Some sunshine bright, some somber, some serene like calm before rain and some misty lavender, with whispers of shamrock. Yesterday I gave the old sock some tears and pain.  I added some smiles,  stirred with indigo moonbeams.   I drink deep of my own dreams, savor innocence of peace  sheltering my soul, when I peek inside this old sock. My only qualm is the consequence of sating this unexpected trove.                   Where then shall I hide  my lilac memories?

Hi Marilyn, All these moments...bright or dark, depressing or ecstatic...tucked into the simplicity of an old sock...yet, it isn't so much about the nature of this 'keeper' that for me, is at the core of the poem...but because it is a lot more 'personal' or 'private' than a treasure chest or safe could ever be.. therefore, for me...this poem speaks of some very personal moments/memories..(or the reader's private nature)...and their home - the old sock...You have used some wonderful words that paint pictures to highlight these memories/moments and the flow is very spontaneous..... the highlight though, is the theme and it's hero - the sock....it is through this that you most effectively create that 'personal', 'private' link between you and your memories. looking forward to reading more ! well-written. duane.
