My December Vote (rather than November's)

 Points: 8.4211 Left Behind submitted by cheyenne smyth on 2009-12-03 15:47:56  Points: 7.57899 Meteors submitted by Duane J Jackson on 2009-12-15 00:06:28 A sparse month with several poems I felt needed further work to make fully appreciated their obvious potential. Those I give explanation in my critique of them. Some are simply too personal to the poet and should have their poet venturing a little more outside themselves in order to better relate some degree of universality to readership.  This new month of January begins our contest with Cheyenne Smyth in running start due to her submission, Too Soon Cold. I make no leap in praising this poem. Cheyenne may well prove to be the poet to beat in this contest.  Let's all renew our efforts to help promote this contest in the realization that we promote TPL in doing so. Real money is at stake as well as a hope that we may, inadvertently if nothing else, encourage our host to renew as well his enthusiasm with the site itself. Good luck to you all, and my grattitude to each and everyone that has kept this community alive when so many so easily lost faith. I am told there are qualities unique to TPL other poetry sites seem to know little about. My own excursions have indicated this is  true. I can say that many of the poetry journals have fallen away to the most rank form of favoratism and narrowness, ironically due to an obvious form of self-styled elitism. (Like if you haven't been to an ivy league school you're assumed inadequate to produce good poetry.) It just ain't so...now is it? JCH
