Winterpane - Etheree #3

Frost forests of glass trees emboss against the ebon milieu of chilled December nights. Immaculate renditions  of vitreous illustrations create unspoiled panoramas  on luculent panes of winter windows. ~

Mary J., I think I saw that pane of glass. It was exactly as you described. The icy frost look as trees in a forest. Unspoiled panoramas. Looking through to light can even bring out rainbow colors. Reminds me of Dr. Zhivago in winter palace. Lovely... Dellena

Hi Mary...such rich imagery you have penned. "Glass trees" is wonderful. Where I live trees covered with snow and ice do look like they are made of glass. I also remember, as a child, believing Jack Frost really was a person who came out at night and frosted the window panes. This lovely poem that took me back there just long enough to experience that wonder one more time. Just beautiful. blessings...Marilyn

Mary, A wonderful piece. To look at the darkened, icy world through etched glass of winters window, is a poem in itself; your descriptions are scrumptious, "ebon milieu" - "vitreous illustrations" - "luculent panes" - simply delicious syntax that matches the cold of the moment. I think "unspoiled" could grant itself to the frost, or the creation- panoramas embossed!! Such an excellent piece, don’t' change a word!

I believe I've discovered the purpose in this poetic genre, to disguise the simile by removing "like" from the context. Thus the image better becomes the thing. So we SEE the magic of looking at poetscape through frost covered pane and we SEE how, through imagination, such "illustrations" can be "vitreous". Such a short poem to teach such a big discovery. Good Morning Poet..........nice to read , your penned words have brought this one to life with its frosty windows and glass trees. Glad to say this has been a warmer then usual winter so far here in New England and that I can handle as well. Chilled December nights brings back many wonderful memories as well as goose bumps just thinking about it. Thanks for posting and sharing, God Bless, Claire
