The Autopsy's Coroner

You said you were a surgeon  but you treat the body as if,      it were a sturgeon. To dabble with the data  like a debutante with caviar.

Dear James, I'm not sure which poem your are referring to, haven't read them all. I know the practice of autopsies, are important; but never thought the coroner would enjoy his skill - how could he? Coroners are necessary, just like undertakers - and I've never met an undertaker - who wasn't mostly serene. Perhaps my thoughts are askew, I have recently been the recipient of my very first - autopsy report - and now I wish I hadn't read it. It is all data - weights, measurements, contents - not for anyone who is squeamish to read. Think I'll go in search of the poem you referred to - for more clarity. My best to you, Deni

Interesting.....I guess I watch too much CSI Miami......I find the coroner there treats the corpse like a friend and that to me seems good.......good thing I never became a doctor/surgeon.....I would be afraid to hurt even a deceased body.....tried to figure out what poem brought this one to life......still working on it. Again, good presentation, thanks for posting, God Bless, Claire

Hello James, An interesting picture here...i can picture this man...moving the pieces around...examining each one...as if his 'toy' - the body - was offered to him as a christmas gift...i can envision the pleasure he gets qas his eyes roll around the 'meat'...recording and observing anything that 'moves' or has 'layers'...making much of the 'shades'...hmmm....for him, this is a party..he surely enjoys ! Duane.

James, Doctors do treat bodies/people like a hunk of meat! One to carve and make bucks with. Even if unnecessary. And they have the power to call it what they will. Just pay the bill! Dead is dead! To live, don't see a Dr. Dellena

James, Short but very well written. I like the way you can just write your thoughts like this. Always, Rene'

JCH, We must build a wing here and dedicate it to the Ghost of Michael Dean. Of course, both you and I (much more elaborately me) have made our accretions. Poor Mr. Dean . . . but that is what happens when one becomes myth. Rhyming the self-proclaimed doctor with "sturgeon" was a delicious touch. Mark
