People Say They're Kind

People say they're kind, But what is kindness? Nations say they're fair, But what is fairness? When thousands of Haitians cried,  Where was their kindness? When over 800,000 in Rwanda died, Where was their fairness? People say they're kind, But they're kindness is for their kind. Nations say they're fair, But they're fairness is for their fair.

Nice flow, to me you conveyed sentements that go beyond anger of ignorance or self endulgence more to a point of sad amazement of the treatment of man toward fellow man, all contrary to man's own verbage. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

You're forgetting the Tsunami Relief. You're forgetting the Berlin Blockade. You're forgetting the CAnadian Sailors who risked their lives to get food and ammo to the Brits during WW2 when America was silent. You forget the humanitarian efforts to feed millions...the aid was there but the warlords prevented much of the aid from getting through. C'mon now Latorial...even a little country such as mine gives more per capita than the Americans. What about our reknown UN Peace keepers? What about Doctors and Nurses without borders? What about the ships full of Jews during WW2 that weren't allowed to dock in the USA? What about the French Canadian who wrote a scathing book "One is too many", and I believe the same author, "White Niggers of America" (pertaining to Jews.) There are just too many causes and we don't have enough fingers' to dam the dikes! nuff said...

Latorial This brings out a thought for the reader and keeps it there. It shows a form of prejudice within so many who think they are kind and considerate. If only they can look past there white picket fence. There is a hidden part for me in this poem, whether you intended it or not, that is greed to keep themselves away from the cruelties in life that need to be addressed if they are to cease. Your presentation is well structured and appearance uniform. Makes one think, no suggestions on improving this. Well done. Thomas

Hi Latorial, I'm knocking on your doors again! And I stopped by to tell you that like your other poems this month, this too stands out as a testament to your social conscience and its flair for addressing very real and sensitive issues that have left their mark on the African-american communities for ages. The anger in this poem is a little more obvious and you throw very direct questions and answer them too. The poem speaks of the contradictory stances of human kind. The last line of the last verse serves the final punch and is the highlight of the poem. The pun is a smart one and addresses the favoritism of white establishments towards the white sections of their communities leaving the others backward and wanting. I wouldn't change a thing in this because it's honesty is its best support. Keep up the excellent job you have done this month!! Take Care, Duane.

Latorial, People have tendancy to talk the talk, but not walk the walk! Words are words, not action. And words have different meaning. Different sources. people pretend and then convince you. And most justify why......in their mind to soothe their soul.' What a web we weave when we decieve. Our government, leaders, notable people, have their agendas. One can only do as you just did! Speak out. Protest, say it like it is! Fair isn't fair, kind isn't kind, in some circles. In particular 'those' circles.[THEY LIE] Good job, hip hip hooray! Dellena

Good Morning Poet......People Say Their Kind......right away this opens food for thought within the readers mind...........wondering kind about what.........I have to agree with the word flow though and I often wonder where is the kindness here within our own borders.........what is fairness and who shall have it? I believe its all political, the fairness and kindness goes to those that the leaders want it to touch and perhaps touch is the right word......it does not consume their needs, wants or desires but it will cover enough to say they have been touched.........again much food for thought poet........hope this one finds the eyes that should read it along with a heart that will understand........God Bless, Claire Thanks for posting and sharing......

Latorial, Beautiful form. This one flows wonderfully from beginning to end. As for the content, I couldn't agree more. This world is full of bias and hate. Saying that, I beieve that a poem can make a difference in the hearts of others. Thank you for posting this, Audrey
