I would like to start a contest, complete with prizes, in the hope to better promote TPL and to add my own little coin to the fountain of hope all poetry lovers make when they form community.      (OF COURSE CONTINGENT ON THE APPROVAL OF THE SITE OWNER) The contest would run three months and prizes would be given to those in the top ten positions for accumulative points earned over that three month period. NOTHING would change with regard to TPL's format or present formulation. Obviously I would be excluded since I'm the sponsor, simply keeping my influence strictly to critiquing.  I would ask everyone reach-out far and wide to old members, contacts and those you feel might be interested in contributing for promoting this contest and justifying the support we all could agree would be more edifying to our community here.  First prize: $100 Second        $75 Third         $50 Fourth through Tenth: $20 each.  I will mail out postal money orders to each winner at the completion of the contest.  My Christmas gift, let's call it.  JCH

JCH, If this place rose or fell based upon your resolve and will, it would be soaring. Good luck with this, my friend. And may the Lord smile on your efforts. MSS

Interesting idea. Hope MSS's hiatus from TPL is due to real life busyness and that he will return. Would also like to read more of Tom Wright's work. His poetry is always interesting and often superb -'Woman Combing'-an example of that. And Rachel was the most accomplished woman poet on the site (in my opinion), and her poetry was a boon to TPL. If Chris approves your suggestion, I hope he also restores your posting privilages on the forum. It's absurb your not being able to post there, especially given the level of participation that currently exists. There's lots of warm and fuzzy poetry sites on the net, TPL could be the site for creative and original writing and whatever that might mean to anyone, it means something. You know poetry, you're here, and that is what could give TPL a chance to be more. Terry

Hello JCH, I think you have a stupendous idea. I wondered why the site was so slow and hesitate to give up or abandon it as I think the poets here have much to offer. I do hope the site administrator will agree with you and hopefully it will garner more interest and other poets will join us. Good luck. cheyenne

Hi James, This is a very noble thought and an action that, in my opinion, might add that electrifying lease of life that TPL has been denied. I dont see why you should not be part of the contest though. Anyhow, let me know when you would like me to start reaching out to some of our older members and I will begin as soon as I hear from you. I guess, the key is hearing back from Chris. You can email me at : nightbreed2006@yahoo.com Duane.
